If you need an excuse to broach the subject of bed bugs with friends and family – this is your lucky week. Afterall, it is Bed Bug Week, a segment of the NPMA's (National Pest Management Association) initiative – National Pest Management Month. The NPMA is US based and which the Canadian Pest Management Association (CPMA) is associated.
Take this opportunity to hone your own bed bug skills or help educate your peeps about this pest. Raise the awareness level and everyone benefits. It is only through awareness, education and pro-active measures we will control the spread of this nasty pest.
The NPMA surveyed over 2,000 American adults and found nearly three out of five respondents were participating in some type of precaution against bed bugs. That is great news as it shows bed bug education has expanded beyond the childhood rhyme ‘don`t let the bed bugs bite’.
From our perspective, we see a similar rise in the public’s awareness here in the lower mainland of BC. Keep the momentum going and help 'spread the word, not the bed bug'.

For more information on bed bug biology, prevention tips and best practices there is NPMA’s AllThingsBedBugs.org, though the Environmental Protection Agency’s recently overhauled site Bed Bugs: Get Them Out and Keep Them Out is quite impressive. Of course, don’t neglect our own Know Your Enemy pages.
