This Halloween ensure the only creepy monsters in your home are ones you invited. No 'treats' for vampires of the insect world, bed bugs. Follow these 'tricks' to kill bed bugs should any hitch a ride home in the folds and seams of your recently purchased costume.
Whether you purchase retail or used costumes, transport the clothing in a tightly sealed plastic bag; a twist tie will do. Upon arriving home, immediately wash your costume in hot water. Then run the costume through the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes. If the costume does not require washing, skip the wash load but not that dryer on high for 30 minutes. It is the high heat that kills bed bug eggs, nymphs and adults dead. A dead bed bug is a good bed bug, especially at Halloween.
